Ease of Setting Up
The RCF Evox JMIX8 has been designed so you can set it up and take apart within no time, making it ideal for DJs and gigs where it’ll need to be moved a lot. It has an ultra-compact and portable design. The satellite array module fits nicely into the rear of the subwoofer and is secured by an elastic strap.
The only parts that aren’t integrated into the unit are the Speakon cable connecting the base to the top, the two-section pole mount, and a power cord which comes in a separate carry bag. There’s also an optional soft cover fully integrated with a built-in wheeled trolley that houses the carry bag.
If you want a stereo system, you will purchase one RCF Evox JMIX8 (comes with the mixer), and another RCF Evox with no mixer.
The system connection is simple with the J8 onboard mixer. It features a link output to hook up the second unit, plus the mixer also features an auxiliary output to connect a stage monitor or another RCF Evox to increase coverage
Portability
Coming in at 9.25 x 13.7 x 17.7 inches (235 x 350 x 450 mm), the entire system tips the scale at slightly under 50 lbs (23kg), which means you can single-handedly carry it from the car using the handle at the top of the woofer’s cabinet.
The fanless class-D amplifier not only keeps the weight down but also increases efficiency.
The pole mount comes in two sections so that you can use them depending on the height you want for the array speaker.
With the RCF Evox JMIX8, you’ll spend less time untangling cables, and more time performing for your audience. And when you’re done, all you have to do is extend the handle and wheel your system without much struggle.
Digital Mixer
The versatile remote controllable digital mixer has a sampling rate of 24-bit/48kHz, and you don’t need a manual to use it because all the controls are visible and accessible from the front panel.
The Input Channels
For each of the 8 channels and the master volume, there’s physical control knob. All other functions are controlled using a “turn and press”’ encoder, left/right buttons, and a small LCD display.
The channel arrangement begins with inputs 1 and 2 with phantom power, inputs 3 and 4 with no phantom power, input 5, which is a stereo channel on unbalanced jacks, and input 6 with RCA phono inputs, that also doubles as the Bluetooth volume control for streaming music from your portable devices.
Built-In Guitar Amp Simulator
Input 4 can be switched to a Hi-Z (high impedance) mode and is also the channel that hosts the built-in guitar amp simulator for specific guitar effects. There are more jacks provided for connecting the dual footswitch used to activate the effects.
Every channel comes with its input select buttons, rotary control, and multi-colored LED metering. Channels 5 and 6 can act as a mono channel if you plug into the left input alone. When you press the home button, all the meter levels appear on the LCD window. The buttons: SYSTEM, OUTPUT, INPUT, MFX, and FX are used to control the parameters on the LCD display.
All channels have a three-band equalizer, complete with high, mid, and low controls. There’s also a selectable high-pass filter on the preamp gain mixer page for each channel.
A dynamics unit applies compression on the first four channels using a single-control compressor. The compressor toggles on and off to give a choice of up to six preset: Heavy, Light, Bass, Vocal, Drum, and Acoustic.
A 7-band graphic EQ on both the main output and aux output gives you the freedom to adjust the sound of the system.
The mixer also provides you with powerful overall sound, more harmonics, and access to further processing presets described as MASTERING, MASTER BOOST, PROUD, LOUD, and Hi-Fi.
There’s also an “EQLIVE” button that allows you to introduce EQ contour when doing a live performance.
If you don’t want to use the mixer, but instead want to use the RCF Evox as an active speaker, simply disable the mixer in the menu page.
Evox App
The RCF Evox JMIX8 app allows you to control the mixer on your iOS or Android device via Bluetooth. Featuring intuitive graphics created by some of the best audio engineers, the app will enable you to access and control all the mixer’s parameters while playing.
Design and Build Quality
RCF Evox JMIX8 reviewed in this article has a sturdy, ergonomic build that provides a robust look to the system. Internal reinforcements prevent damage to the outer structure of the cabinet. Plus, the entire cabinet is molded using special polypropylene material to reduce unwanted vibrations.
RCF pays special attention to the exterior and build quality of its systems. It scores high in durability if you compare it with other systems at its price range.
Each subwoofer comes with a steel pole socket to house the array. Even though the array is short, it covers 30 degrees vertically and a full 120 degrees horizontally. The vertical array is linearized to guarantee decent sound coverage from the first to the last row.
The JMIX8 is available in black or white colors and blends in well when installed in a live gig thanks to its subtle look.

The Evox JMIX8 offers stunning sound quality with superb audio – even at loud volumes thanks to “FiRPHASE,” a cutting-edge FIR filtering technology that optimizes amplitude, dynamics, and phase patterns.
The full-range RCF drivers can handle high SPL and power with clarity and ease. The high excursion 12-inch woofer packs more than enough punch to shake up a dance floor. At the same time, the bass-reflex port is designed to minimize distortion and turbulence.
Thanks to the 1400W class-D amplifier, the JMIX8 offers crisp, clean sound with high efficiency. That means accurate transient response, quick attack, and articulate sound performance. This is the next level live sound.
